Star midfielder signs on for 2022

MCLEAN SIGNS

Our star midfielder is looking to set the competition alight in season 2022 after an injury marred 2021.

McLean started his Queensland career with the Capalaba Bulldogs before moving on to Rochedale Rovers where he would eventually break into the first team.

The 28-year-old also played within the QAS and Brisbane Roar System before winning four NPL premierships with various NPL Queensland sides including Olympic FC, Brisbane Strikers and of course, Peninsula Power.

McLean spent a year down south in 2015 with the Oakleigh Cannons in the Victorian NPL before making his move to Brisbane Strikers.

In his time at Strikers, McLean was a key cog in a side that shocked and amazed Australia by reaching the Semi Final of the FFA Cup, the only member federation team to ever do so.

His other FFA Cup escapades include making the Quarter Finals with the Oakleigh Cannons, the Round of 16 with Olympic and this years Round of 32 with Peninsula Power where the club faced the Brisbane Roar at Moreton Daily Stadium.

The English born midfielder who joined the club from Brisbane Strikers ahead of last season is set to bounce back after a tough 2021 season.

“I re-signed because I really enjoyed my first year at the club.

"There is a really good group of lads that are all quality players so it was an easy decision.

"We had some great success and I want to continue that next year for a three-peat of winning the league," McLean told Power Media.

Senior Director of Football Ben Ryan is thrilled to have McLean back onboard for 2022.

“Retaining Jake was a priority.

"He is a fantastic midfielder and proven winner at this level."

Mclean only managed 16 NPL games this season after suffering a major injury in the early stages of the season.

"After a disrupted first year with Power, we are looking forward to him featuring heavily in a successful campaign."
